Starting at the spigot and still using your string as a guide, cut a 3"-4" deep into the sod using a flat spade (can be purchase at most Garden / Hardware stores).

Do not use common shovel as you will find it difficult to cut a straight line for proper installation.

Rock the spade back and forth to create a V-shaped opening in the earth. Press the assembled Lawn Belt into slit as you go.

Make sure to install vertically in the ground - pointed end first. Locate the thick top flange just below surface of the soil or sod line.

At each sprinkler head locations dig a deeper and wider V-shaped opening 9-10" down.

At these head location place a couple of handfuls of pea gravel under sprinkler drain before pressing U drain fitting into slit. This will provide better drainage.

Make sure sprinkler heads are flush with ground surface. If the head is not flush adjust the hole depth to accommodate the sprinkler head height.

Once the system is in place close the seam over Lawn Belt by firmly stepping on the sod with your foot to seal it's path.

If you want to branch Lawn Belt in 2 directions you will need a use a 1/2" barbed T fitting (available at you hardware store).

This T connection will require 3 converter kits (one for each part in the T).

Refer to instructions above on how to install a converter fitting.

Note: Using T connections may affect the performance of your system. Whenever possible make wide turns with LawnBelt to avoid this type of connection.

15. Attach automatic timer

Now that you have an underground sprinkler system you may want to water your garden automatically. There are many battery operated timers that attach directly to a spigot.
